Brite Update 26.6.26

McGrathNicol, the Receivers of Brite Advisors Pty Ltd (in liquidation), have issued an important update regarding complaints being handled through the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) and the process for clients to access their Brite records.

Key Points

  • AFCA has now received approximately 700 complaints relating to Brite Advisors.
  • The Receivers have received around 90 individual information requests from AFCA so far.
  • To reduce costs and streamline the process, the Receivers applied to the Federal Court of Australia for guidance on how these requests should be handled.
  • On 7 May 2026, the Court approved a streamlined approach which allows beneficiaries to access their own records directly, rather than the Receivers responding individually to each AFCA request.

Accessing Your Brite Documents

Beneficiaries can now request access to their Brite Advisors document folder, regardless of whether they have lodged a complaint with AFCA.

The process works as follows:

  1. Complete the document request form provided by the Receivers.
  2. Confirm your identity and acknowledge that:
    • the documents are for your personal use;
    • any documents relating to another beneficiary must be deleted; and
    • the files will be kept secure.
  3. The Receivers will upload the available records to Salesforce within approximately 14 days.
  4. Access is provided securely using Two-Factor Authentication.

Important Notes

  • The Receivers have stated that the books and records obtained from Brite Advisors are incomplete.
  • They have not conducted a detailed review of each client folder and therefore cannot guarantee the completeness or accuracy of the information provided.
  • Clients may still lodge complaints with AFCA while Brite Advisors remains an AFCA member.
